A New Home for OCCA

In April members of OCCA and the management committee started the looking in earnest at the possibility of a new resource centre and associated facilities by the end of 2012. Three potential sites were identified  and after scouting each site a list of PMIs (Plus, Minus and Interesting points) were developed and are listed below.·In the near future we will have a round table discussion about this topic so we can start the journey.·If you are interested in coming on that journey, please contact Beryl Roberts at· This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Clean Up Australia Day

WaCC and OCCA get active for Clean Up Australia Day eventsclean up aus 1
The Wolston and Centenary Catchments (WaCC) and Oxley Creek Catchment Association (OCCA) have celebrated 'Clean up Australia Day 2012' with a series of events.

WaCC assisted Darra State School with their 'School Clean Up' on Friday 2 March when more than 190 students got active to tidy up their school grounds.  It was wonderful to have the input of the entire school and the students did a fabulous job bringing the school grounds back to a litter free zone.  n total the students collected more than 10kg of general waste and 3kg of recyclables that included plastic bottles, cans and paper products.

WaCC and OCCA continued the clean up on Saturday 3 March with a canoeing clean up event along Oxley Creek and at the Oxley Common.  Canoes were launched from the PamphletBridge pontoon near the mouth of the Brisbane River before the paddlers headed upstream picking up creek side rubbish along the way.
